2023 INBOUND EXCHANGE
July 6th to July 26th 2023

The annual youth exchange between Norfolk, VA, and Wilhelmshaven, Germany, is looking for families to host a student for three weeks in the summer of 2023.
Hosting an exchange student is a rewarding experience that will enrich the rest of your life. Your family has the chance to build a friendship with someone from another country, be introduced to a new language, new food, a new culture, and as a result learn how close together “worlds apart” can really be. Many former hosts still have contact with their student even decades later. We need host families in Norfolk or surrounding cities with teenagers in the 15-18 age range, especially those who are studying German or are interested in the reciprocal exchange to go to Germany in 2024; an opportunity most people never have.
OBLIGATIONS OF STUDENT FAMILIES:
Host families provide accommodations, meals, transportation, share the lifestyle and culture of your American home, and supplement our schedule with activities of their own interest. The visiting students bring their own spending money and some of the group activities are paid for by NSCA.
SISTER CITY SUPPORT:
The Association will provide overall supervision and support for the entire exchange program and organize major activities for the group, this could include sightseeing tours of local attractions and trips to places like Jamestown and Washington, D.C. The Association will cover the cost of these activities for the German students but the host families might have to to pay a portion of their cost.
