Day 12, how to drink tea, properly

Updated: Aug 8, 2018

(Written and photographed by To’Niah✨)

Today we went to a castle and learned about the history of Jever.  We learned the story of Lady Mary, How she lady traveled years across Europe to get the official title of emperor of her castle!! And we also learned she never married because her lover was shot but after his death she successfully ran the castle till she died at 75. (Talk about a strong independent woman !! 💁🏾‍♀️💪🏽)

Then we went to one of the fanciest tea houses in Germany. He talked about how tea is very famous in northern Germany . We learned that Germans drink 300L per head per year. He also demonstrated what a tea ceremony is. The first step is to put the sugar in the cup. The second step is to put the tea in the cup but you have to be silent to hear the sugar crackling. And the last step is to put in the cream, so it can pour in and come up with an illusion of a cloud.

Next we learned we have to drink a minimum of 3 cups!!  and in order to show the host we don’t want more, we have to put the spoon in the empty cup.

Then we took a  tour of the castle of Jever, we saw all the different rooms, it was very interesting to see the different architecture and different way of life and culture of those before us.

And then we all enjoyed the rest of our night at a wonderful garden party hosted by the Wiese'sWiese's, a beautiful way to end our day in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. 🖤❤️💛 germany
